Welder/ FCAW

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Work under a Shop Supervisor and with shop team members using applied practices
• Practice safe, thorough, and positive work habits
• Study and learn blueprints, sketches or specifications
• Use basic math skills to calculate dimensions and weights
• Inspect material to be welded or worked on
• Perform final inspection on your finished welds
• Use of an Oxy/Acetylene torch
• Weld using a variety of different techniques and in various positions
• Grind and gouge metal for possible extended periods of time
• Using overhead bridge cranes to move material around
• Use rigging techniques with overhead bridge cranes and fitting steel using key plates, bull pins, keys, shims, lifting lugs, nuts, u bars, etc.
• Types of welding will be done with GMAW/FCAW/SMAW
• Weldments will be in conformation to AWS D1.1 and AWWA D100

Required and Desired Abilities/Qualifications

• Must be able to perform job duties safely and within a timely manner
• Must be able to demonstrate safe and positive work habits
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be willing to work 40 plus hours per week
• Must have a reliable transportation
• Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of the welding industry
• Able to pass weld test(s) in horizontal and vertical position per ASME Section IX
• Able to weld using FCAW and GMAW
• Able to consistently produce X-Ray quality welds in production

• Competitive hourly wages (Starting at $18 per hour ) depending on experience and qualifications
