Position Title: EHS Specialist

Reports to: Director of Risk Management

Location: Avon, Indiana

Description

With limited supervision, the EHS Specialist will travel throughout the nation performing onsite audits, provide educational courses, and ensure compliance with all regulations issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other government agencies as well as Company policies. This individual will be building relationships with field workers and other management staff promoting a positive, proactive safety culture. This person must be a self-starting, creative individual who can manage their own schedule responsibly and help create their own position at Phoenix.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Travel nationwide, 70 – 90% of the time
  • Conduct jobsite audits and inspections primarily in the Eastern/Central time zones
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety systems
  • Train, coach, and educate all levels of staff
  • Create programs that best fit Phoenix and meets regulatory requirements
  • Perform incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Help manage safety inventory and budget
  • Review and interpret contracts as they relate to safety
  • Remain up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations
  • Willingness to obtain professional development through education
  • Represent Phoenix in meetings with government agencies and customers professionally

Qualifications

The following are minimal qualifications for the EHS Specialist position:

  • High school graduate, G.E.D. or equivalent. College degree in HSE related field is preferred
  • Passion toward your career in safety and the construction industry
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and capability of interpreting them
  • Strong leadership traits and motivation to follow through with your work
  • Integrity and being able to exercise independent professional judgment to make decisions
  • Demonstrate self-initiating/self-starting behavior and maintain a positive proactive attitude
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to any safety issues at any time
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Have a sense of urgency and capability to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb a vertical ladder up to 200 feet
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather and construction conditions
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.

Shop Welder


Location: Avon, In

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Work under a Shop Supervisor and with shop team members using applied practices
Practice safe, thorough, and positive work habits
Study and learn blueprints, sketches or specifications
Use basic math skills to calculate dimensions and weights
Inspect material to be welded or worked on
Perform final inspection on your finished welds
Use of an Oxy/Acetylene torch
Weld using a variety of different techniques and in various positions
Grind and gouge metal for possible extended periods of time
Using overhead bridge cranes to move material around
Use rigging techniques with overhead bridge cranes and fitting steel using key plates, bull pins, keys, shims, lifting lugs, nuts, u bars, etc.
Types of welding will be done with GMAW/FCAW/SMAW
Weldments will be in conformation to AWS D1.1 and AWWA D100

Required and Desired Abilities/Qualifications

Must be able to perform job duties safely and within a timely manner
Must be able to demonstrate safe and positive work habits
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must be willing to work 40 plus hours per week
Must have a reliable transportation
Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of the welding industry
Able to pass weld test(s) in horizontal and vertical position per ASME Section IX
Able to weld using FCAW and GMAW
Able to consistently produce X-Ray quality welds in production
